Performing Arts Specialism

SMSJ has an exciting Performing Arts specialism which benefits our by providing an enhanced curriculum offer with plenty of extracurricular opportunities to perform and be exposed to high quality musical, drama and dance experiences.

SMSJ Performing Arts Curriculum Offer:

24 pupils in every Music, Dance and Drama class in Years 7-8

Music, Dance and Drama are taught as discrete subjects in Years 7-11

Extra curriculum time in Year 9 for Dance, Music and Drama (2 periods a week)

3 Music Teachers, 2 Dance Teachers and 3 Drama Teachers

 

SMSJ Extracurricular Offer:

Annual whole school production

Termly trips to the theatre, dance productions and concerts

Visiting performing arts groups and professional musicians

Dance Festivals

Termly music concerts

We select our Scholars through an application process which includes aptitude tests at the start of Year 6.  Find out more here.
