Strike Action - 1st February 2023Posted on: 26th Jan 2023
National Education Union (NEU) Industrial Action – Wednesday 1st February
You may be aware from media coverage that the NEU have declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 1st February. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over teachers’ pay, and not because of any issues at our school.
We’re getting in touch to give you details about our arrangements for Wednesday 1st February.
On this day we have a significant number of teachers anticipated to be on strike and therefore we can only safely open the school to a small group of vulnerable students. We will contact the parents/carers of students who are being invited in by email today.
For Primary and Secondary students distance learning will be set, via Class Charts, by any teacher not participating in the industrial action. Therefore, please advise your child to check Class Charts to access this learning.
We are sorry that, for the majority of our school community, you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child on this day. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and will inform you as soon as possible of our plans if the future intended strike action goes ahead. Thank you for your understanding.
