Music

Music is an integral part of culture and helps to forge links between school, home and the wider world.  We recognise that it is a powerful and unique form of communication and the skills, habits and characteristics gained through artistic and creative endeavour are not just vital for the development of happy and rounded children, but also support high achievement in academic subjects.

We provide children with a variety of musical experiences which nurtures their ability to listen to and appreciate a wide range of music.

We are currently taking part in The Voices Foundation project which involves daily singing activities in all classes from Nursery to Year 6.

Music sessions in class encourage active involvement in different forms of music making, both individual and communal, developing a sense of group identity and togetherness.

Musical opportunities at SMSJ
