As a full time student, you are to remain in school daily, for the entirety of the school day.
We know that poor attendance and punctuality affects not only individual students’ grades but also the learning of the whole class; content missed may have to be repeated; group activities and presentations are disrupted. It also shows a lack of respect for, and a poor attitude towards, the teachers and the subjects being missed.
Please see below an outline for acceptable attendance figures:
- 98% - 100% - Expected levels of attendance
- 95% - 97% - Cause for concern
- Below 95% - Serious concern
If a student has an unplanned absence then we request that parent/carer contact Ms. Wood-Cain our Sixth Form Administrator by phone or email. Please make contact each day you are absent. Her contact details are:
Tel: 0208 202 0026 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Any potential planned absence must be authorised as far in advance of the date as possible but no later than 48 hours before the absence. Parents/carers should fill in the absence request form found on the school website. Students who do not request permission for their planned absence, so excluding illness, will have it unauthorised.
Students should make all routine appointments at times that do not clash with their lessons.
