Our 3 Sites

SMSJ has undergone extensive redevelopment and refurbishment over the past few years. We now have 3 sites:

Lower School - Neale House

Our lower school site is located on Prothero Gardens and accommodates our Nursery and three forms of entry in Reception, Years 1 – 4.

We have very high expectations of both the behaviour and learning of everyone in our school and place a strong emphasis on the shared Christian and British Values which are an integral part of our curriculum.  We want our children in the Lower School to learn, develop and practice these values including those of friendship, compassion, respect, tolerance, forgiveness, thankfulness, perseverance, hope and humility.  All values which underpin our ethos and vision.

Middle School - Bennett House

Our middle school site is located on Sunningfields Road and accommodates our Year 5 to 8 pupils.  Year 9 pupils are being accomodated at the Middle School for the 2016-2017 academic year whilst the redevlopment work is taking place. This building was redeveloped in partnership with Barnet Local authority and the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS). This site has state of the art specialist facilities for music, dance, drama as well as Science labs, sports hall, design and technology, cooking and a wonderful resource area in our Atrium. All pupils make use of these excellent facilities.

Our middle school ethos allows us lots of exciting opportunities for leadership, buddying, cross phase working and collaboration and enables us to combine high academic standards with a nurturing ethos. Our aim is to reduce the ‘Year 7 dip’ that is often experienced as students adjust to life at secondary school through a highly supported learning environment.

Upper School - Stamford Raffles

Our Upper School is located on the Downage and opened in September 2017. Students in Years 9 and above are based at the Upper School site, and this will also accommodate our Sixth Form provision. This multimillion pound project has been completed to the highest standards and there are an impressive range of specialist facilities including a theatre, design and technology rooms, numerous science laboratories as well as large outdoor areas for sport.

Secondary phase staff teach across both the Middle and Upper School sites which allows the pupils to stay based in their respective buildings. This allows for the progression of children through the sites at our all-through school and for age appropriate responsibilities and privileges.

The third floor of the new building at Upper School has been dedicated to housing our Sixth Form centre. This spacious facility includes a kitchen but also an ample separate area for a purposeful and professional study environment. We are looking to continue to develop our use of ICT and ensure that students are well-prepared for modern life in the technological age.
