Key Stage Four


In Years 10 and 11 (KS4), pupils will take GCSE courses (or the equivalent, according to the Government’s reform of the KS4 curriculum).  Pupils will follow between 8 and 12 courses, depending on their needs, aptitudes and post-16 possibilities.  All KS4 pupils will take the five English Baccalaureate subjects (English, Mathematics, History or Geography, Sciences and a Modern Foreign Language ) as far as is appropriate to their aptitudes and potential.  Further GCSE courses will be available in Art and Design, Business Studies, Drama, Design and Technology, Economics, ICT,  Music, Physical Education and Religious Studies.  Pupils will receive personalised advice and guidance about this when choosing KS4 Options in Year 9.
